A bamboo in the family of fountain bamboos identified by it’s graceful habit of upright canes that are held vertically only to arch over at the tips. Fargesia nitida ‘Pillar’ is identified from other members of this group by having a more upright habit with just the top most canes gently arching under the weight of the delicate foliage. The canes themselves vary in colour from a fresh green to a deep purple black. This can grow around 3 to 4 metres high and is a very good clump forming bamboo proving to be very hardy. Naturally growing in woodland areas, they are tolerant of shady conditions and adapt very well to container cultivation, just remember to keep them well fed and watered if kept containerised.
