Actinidia arguta ‘Ken’s Red’ is a vigorous hardy kiwi selected for its attractive reddish-toned fruit and sweet flavour. In late spring to early summer, it produces small white flowers, followed by smooth-skinned fruits that develop a reddish-purple outer flush and red-tinged flesh when ripe. The fruits are smaller than supermarket kiwis but can be eaten whole without peeling and have a rich, sweet taste. This variety requires a compatible male pollinator for reliable cropping. With strong twining growth and fresh green foliage, it is ideal for training over pergolas, trellis systems, and fences. Hardy and productive in fertile, well-drained soil with good sun exposure, ‘Ken’s Red’ offers both ornamental appeal and a distinctive edible harvest.
