Actinidia deliciosa ‘Hayward’ is a classic green-fleshed kiwi grown for its large, well-flavoured fruits and strong climbing growth. In late spring, it produces creamy white flowers that develop into oval, brown-skinned fruits with soft hairs, ready for harvest in autumn once fully ripe. The flesh is bright green with a sweet, aromatic taste typical of traditional kiwis. This cultivar is a female plant and needs a suitable male kiwi nearby for fruit to form. With vigorous, twining stems and broad green leaves, it is well suited to training along wires, pergolas, or sunny walls in a warm, sheltered position with fertile, well-drained soil.
