Berberis thunbergii First Editions® ‘Cabernet®’ is a compact, deciduous barberry prized for its richly coloured foliage and strong seasonal presence. Leaf colour opens deep burgundy-red in spring, retaining intense dark tones throughout summer and often developing even deeper shades as temperatures cool in autumn. In late spring to early summer, small yellow flowers appear along the stems, followed by decorative berries later in the season. Its naturally dense, rounded form makes it particularly suited to mixed borders, low hedging, and ornamental planting where consistent dark foliage and low maintenance are priorities. Hardy and adaptable in well-drained soil, ‘Cabernet®’ offers year-round structure and bold colour contrast with minimal care.
