Clerodendrum bungei is a deciduous shrub grown for its bold foliage and eye-catching late-summer flowers. From mid to late summer, it produces large, rounded clusters of rich rose-pink blooms, each made up of small, starry flowers that sit above the foliage and release a light fragrance. The leaves are large, heart-shaped, and mid to dark green, giving the plant a strong, architectural presence even before flowering begins. Spreading in habit and naturally informal, this species is best suited to borders where it has room to develop or in more naturalistic planting schemes. With its late-season colour and vigorous growth, Clerodendrum bungei is an excellent choice for adding impact and interest when many shrubs are past their peak.
