Cornus alba ‘Gouchaultii’ is a robust deciduous dogwood grown for its richly coloured foliage and strong winter presence. Through spring and summer, its broad leaves show a blend of green with uneven creamy-yellow edges, often developing soft pink flushes in good light, bringing movement and contrast to borders. As temperatures drop, the foliage fades and falls to expose bright red stems that stand out through winter. Hardy and adaptable in UK gardens, it prefers moisture-retentive but well-drained soil and grows reliably in sun or partial shade. Cutting back hard in early spring promotes dense regrowth and enhances stem colour for the following winter display.
