This Tree Fern is supplied in a pot, making it easier to position deliver and plant than an unpotted trunk. The full trunk measures approximately 4ft, although part of the base sits below the compost, so the visible trunk above the pot will be slightly shorter.

How to care for Dicksonia antarctica Tree Fern – 4ft Trunk – Potted

Plant in a sheltered spot in partial or full shade, away from strong winds and hot afternoon sun.

Keep the soil moist, especially in spring and summer. During dry weather, water around the base and over the trunk. Water into the crown in the growing season, but avoid leaving it wet through winter.

Is the Tree Fern trunk exactly 4ft? +
These Tree Ferns are supplied to us from Australia in an approximately 4ft size category. As natural plants, trunk height and shape will vary, and some may measure slightly under 4ft.

We pot each Tree Fern on arrival to help us care for it and protect it during handling and transport. Part of the lower trunk sits below the compost, so the visible trunk above the pot will be shorter than its original supplied measurement.

All plants are substantial specimens. The photographs show a good example of the size, shape and appearance you can expect, although the Tree Fern you receive will vary naturally.
Does the advertised height include the fronds? +
No. The 4ft measurement refers to the approximate trunk length. The plant’s overall height varies as its fronds grow and change throughout the season.
Will my Tree Fern arrive with fronds? +
Frond size and appearance vary depending on the season and growing conditions. New fronds normally emerge from the crown during the growing season.
