Distylium myricoides BLUE CASCADE® (PBR) is a spreading evergreen shrub grown for its flowing habit and cool-toned foliage. It produces a wide, arching framework of branches clothed in narrow blue-green leaves that remain on the plant throughout the year, giving steady structure in borders and landscape planting. During late winter, small maroon-red flowers can develop along the stems, though they are subtle compared with the foliage display. Because the plant grows outward rather than tall, it is particularly useful for covering ground, softening the front of borders, or filling space beneath larger shrubs. In UK gardens it prefers a sheltered spot with free-draining soil and will grow in both sunny and partially shaded positions, becoming a durable evergreen that needs very little routine care once established.
