Frangula alnus ‘Fine Line®’ (PBR) is a distinctive deciduous shrub valued for its tall, narrow growth and finely textured foliage. Unlike the broader habit of the species, this selection develops a slim, upright shape that adds vertical interest without taking up much space. The slender green leaves give the plant a soft, almost feathery appearance through the growing season before turning warm yellow shades in autumn. Small, inconspicuous flowers may appear in late spring, sometimes followed by dark berries later in the season. Fully hardy in UK gardens, it grows well in most soils, including heavier or damper conditions, and performs successfully in full sun or partial shade, making it a useful architectural shrub for borders or smaller garden spaces.
