Hydrangea macrophylla 'Green Shadow' is a medium-sized deciduous mophead hydrangea that is particularly striking for its beautiful shades of red and green in its young flowers. This mophead hydrangea blooms from July to September, initially with greenish-red flower heads that later turn pinkish-red. The leaves are mid-green, ovate, narrow, and serrated at the edge. This hydrangea enjoys morning and afternoon sun but cannot tolerate excessive midday sun, as it can cause leaf scorch on very hot summer days.
