Lonicera kamtschatica 'Eisbär' (Ice Bear) is a vigorous, large-fruited deciduous shrub distinguished by its oversized, cylindrical berries that can reach up to 4cm in length. This Siberian-origin Honeyberry is a highly resilient alternative to traditional soft fruits, thriving in neutral to slightly alkaline soils and eliminating the requirement for ericaceous compost. In early spring, the plant produces a flush of pale-yellow, nectar-rich flowers followed by a high-yield crop of sweet, aromatic blue fruits in June and July. Reaching a mature height and spread of 1.5m, 'Eisbär' is exceptionally winter-hardy, tolerating temperatures. Its robust, bushy habit makes it an excellent choice for low-maintenance edible hedging or as a high-performance specimen in mixed shrub borders.
