Physocarpus opulifolius First Editions® ‘Lucky Devil’ (PBR) is a compact, deciduous ninebark selected for its bright foliage colour and strong seasonal performance. In spring, fresh leaves emerge a clear golden yellow, bringing immediate contrast to borders and planting schemes. The foliage remains luminous through summer, before taking on warmer orange and red tones in autumn, extending interest well beyond the flowering period. In late spring to early summer, rounded clusters of small white flowers appear, standing out against the colourful leaves and attracting pollinators, followed by decorative red-tinged seed pods. With a naturally tidy, rounded habit and a mature size of around 90–120cm in height and spread, ‘Lucky Devil’ is well suited to borders, low hedging, and containers where controlled size and reliable colour are important. Fully hardy across the UK, adaptable, and easy to grow, it is a dependable choice for low-maintenance gardens.
