Skimmia japonica ‘Finchy’ is a compact evergreen shrub that brings structure, fragrance and year-round colour to shady areas of the garden. Glossy, dark green leaves form a dense, bushy plant, while generous clusters of tiny, star-shaped creamy-white flowers appear in spring and release a lovely fragrance. As a male Skimmia, ‘Finchy’ does not produce berries itself, but its flowers can provide pollen for female Skimmias growing nearby, helping them develop their colourful autumn and winter berries. It is an excellent low-maintenance choice for shady borders, woodland-style planting and containers.
