Weigela florida ‘Alexandra’ (PBR) is a compact deciduous shrub grown for its rich dark foliage and dependable spring flowering. The leaves emerge deep burgundy-purple and hold their colour well through the season, creating a strong backdrop for the flowers that follow. In late spring to early summer, dark pink to red trumpet-shaped blooms appear along the stems, providing a bold contrast against the foliage. Naturally well balanced and easy to manage, this hardy variety fits well into borders and mixed planting schemes where lasting foliage colour and reliable seasonal flowers are both important, without the plant becoming overly large or demanding.
