Evergreen Hart’s Tongue Fern
Asplenium scolopendrium – Evergreen Hart’s Tongue Fern
Asplenium scolopendrium gives shady planting a bold leaf shape. Its broad, undivided green fronds curve outwards from a central crown, forming a leafy rosette with gently rippled edges.
Try this hart’s tongue fern beside finely divided ferns to emphasise their different textures, or repeat it along a shaded path for a simple, cohesive display. It also works beautifully beneath shrubs where you want greenery to remain visible through winter.
Native to Britain, this evergreen fern is a useful choice for woodland-style gardens. Its broader fronds give it a different character from the narrower, more ruffled ‘Angustatum’.
