Cercis canadensis ‘Forest Pansy’ is a deciduous plant that can be grown either as a large multi-stem shrub or trained into a small tree, valued for its bold foliage and long season of interest. In early spring, bright pink flowers emerge directly along the bare stems, creating a striking display before any leaves appear. The foliage then unfolds in deep purple to burgundy tones, with large, heart-shaped leaves that hold their colour well through summer before softening into warm bronze and amber shades in autumn. With its naturally broad, spreading habit and moderate growth rate, ‘Forest Pansy’ works equally well as a statement shrub in borders or as a small specimen tree, offering colour, structure, and architectural interest without dominating the garden.
