Cotinus coggygria Proven Winners® WINECRAFT BLACK (PBR) is a compact smoke bush known for its intensely dark foliage and long season of interest. Leaves emerge rich burgundy in spring and deepen to deep purple-black through summer, providing strong contrast within borders and modern planting schemes. In early to mid-summer, fine branching flower heads develop into soft, mist-like plumes that hover above the plant. As temperatures cool, the foliage turns vibrant shades of red and orange before leaf fall. Fully hardy in UK gardens, it grows best in full sun and well-drained soil, where its colour remains strongest and its naturally rounded habit forms an eye-catching feature shrub.
