Hebe chathamica, now listed botanically as Veronica chathamica, is a low-growing evergreen shrub with a spreading, mat-forming habit and small oval green leaves. It is a lovely choice for rockeries, gravel gardens, coastal planting, banks, low borders and trailing over walls, where its neat foliage gives year-round cover. In late summer, it produces small pale lilac flowers that fade towards white, adding soft colour above the foliage. It grows best in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil.
