Hebe ‘Tricolour’ is an evergreen shrub grown for its colourful variegated foliage as much as its flowers. The leaves are grey-green with darker green veining and creamy white edges, with pink tones often showing on new growth and during colder weather. In summer, purple flower spikes appear above the foliage and gradually soften as they age. It makes a bright, easy shrub for patio pots, borders, cottage gardens and gravel-style planting, especially in a sunny or lightly shaded sheltered spot with well-drained soil.

How to care for Hebe Tricolour

Plant Hebe ‘Tricolour’ in full sun or partial shade with well-drained soil. A sheltered position is best, as RHS notes this variety benefits from protection from cold, drying winds and may need winter protection in colder conditions. Water regularly while establishing, then only during dry spells. Minimal pruning is needed, but a light trim after flowering can help keep the plant tidy.
