Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Générale Vicomtesse de Vibraye’, often shortened to ‘G. Vic. de Vibraye’, is a classic mophead hydrangea with large rounded flower heads and fresh green foliage. The flowers are usually clear pink in neutral to alkaline soil, but can turn blue in more acidic conditions, making it a lovely choice for gardeners who enjoy traditional colour-changing hydrangeas. It works well in cottage gardens, mixed borders, sheltered patios and large containers, especially in partial shade with soil that stays moist but drains well.

How to care for Hydrangea macrophylla 'G. Vic. de Vibraye'

Plant in a sheltered spot with moist but well-drained soil. Partial shade is ideal, although it can take some morning sun if the soil does not dry out. Water well during dry weather, especially in pots. In spring, remove old flower heads and any dead or weak stems, but avoid cutting back too hard as this can reduce flowering.
