Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Zorro’ is a lacecap hydrangea with real contrast, combining dark purple-black stems with flat flower heads that can shift from blue to pink-purple depending on the soil. The open lacecap blooms give a softer, more natural look than a rounded mophead, while the dark stems add depth against the green foliage. It is a strong choice for shaded borders, cottage gardens, large patio pots and sheltered planting areas where you want summer colour with something a little different. For the best results, grow ‘Zorro’ in partial shade, keep the soil from drying out, and use ericaceous compost or acidic soil if you want to encourage bluer flowers.

How to care for Hydrangea macrophylla 'Zorro'

Grow Hydrangea ‘Zorro’ in partial shade or a sheltered spot with morning sun. Keep the soil evenly moist, especially during warm weather or when grown in a container. For stronger blue flowers, grow in acidic soil or ericaceous compost. In spring, remove old flower heads back to a healthy pair of buds and cut out any weak or damaged stems.
