Hydrangea paniculata ‘Sundae Fraise’ (PBR) is a compact deciduous shrub valued for its colourful summer flower panicles and neat growth. In mid-summer, large cone-shaped flower heads appear in creamy white tones before gradually developing rich pink colouring that rises through the blooms as they mature, creating an attractive two-tone effect. The flowers are carried on sturdy stems with reddish tones that help keep the panicles upright even in wet weather. With its relatively modest size, this variety works well in smaller borders, low flowering hedges, or patio containers. Hardy and dependable in UK gardens, it grows best in fertile soil that retains moisture while draining freely and performs well in full sun or partial shade. Mature plants usually reach around 1.2 m in height and the flowers are attractive to pollinating insects.
