Hydrangea paniculata Vanille Fraise is a spectacular award-winning shrub, famous for its massive cone-shaped flower heads that resemble scoops of strawberry and vanilla ice cream. Starting in midsummer, the blooms emerge a crisp creamy-white before maturing through a multitude of pink tones to a deep, rich raspberry-red by autumn. Held on attractive red-blushed stems, these 'huge' panicles provide months of ever-changing colour. Exceptionally hardy (down to -20°C) and fast-growing, it is a perfect low-maintenance choice for sunny borders or tricky north-facing positions. Thrives in moist, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Height: 2–2.5m; Spread: 1.5–2m
