Parrotia persica ‘Persian Spire’ (PBR) is a compact, columnar form of Persian ironwood selected for its narrow profile and exceptional seasonal interest. It develops a naturally upright shape, remaining notably slim while gradually building height, making it ideal for gardens where space is limited but vertical structure is desired. Fresh green leaves emerge in spring, sometimes showing subtle bronze or purple tones, forming a dense, tidy outline through summer before turning a rich mix of yellow, orange and red in autumn, often with several colours visible at once. Small, petal-less red flowers may appear on bare branches in late winter, and as the tree matures it develops attractively flaking bark for added winter interest. Slow to moderate growing and fully hardy in the UK, ‘Persian Spire’ offers long-term structure, strong autumn colour and a compact footprint with minimal maintenance.
