Physocarpus opulifolius First Editions® ‘Amber Jubilee®’ (PBR) is a hardy deciduous ninebark valued for its continually shifting foliage display from spring through autumn. As growth begins, young leaves open in vivid shades of copper-orange and gold, creating an immediate warm glow in the garden. Through summer, the foliage softens to yellow-green tones while retaining subtle amber highlights, before developing deeper red and burnt orange colouring as temperatures cool in autumn. Late spring to early summer brings rounded clusters of small white flowers set against the colourful leaves, followed by ornamental seed heads that extend seasonal texture. Forming a strong, upright shrub typically reaching 1.5–2 metres in height and spread, this variety is well suited to mixed borders, feature planting, and informal screening where sustained foliage interest is required. Exceptionally robust, fully hardy throughout the UK, and adaptable to most well-drained soils including clay and chalk, ‘Amber Jubilee®’ provides long-term structure and colour with minimal maintenance.
