Physocarpus opulifolius First Editions® ‘Little Devil®’ (PBR) is a small-growing, deciduous ninebark selected for its consistently dark foliage and controlled, upright form. As growth begins in spring, the leaves open red-toned before settling into a deep wine-purple shade that remains stable throughout the growing season, even in sunny positions. In late spring to early summer, modest clusters of pale pink-white flowers appear within the foliage, providing contrast without distracting from the plant’s primary colour feature, followed later by ornamental seed pods. Reaching roughly 90–120cm in height and width, this variety is well suited to compact borders, containers, and structured planting where strong foliage colour is needed without excessive spread. Exceptionally hardy, tolerant of a wide range of well-drained soils including clay, and requiring minimal input once established, ‘Little Devil®’ offers long-term reliability with very low maintenance demands.
