Skimmia japonica ‘Fragrant Cloud’, also known as ‘Fragrans’, is an especially attractive choice for gardeners looking for spring fragrance and year-round evergreen foliage. It forms a neat, low, dome-shaped shrub with aromatic dark green leaves. In spring, dense clusters of small white male flowers appear, producing a particularly pleasant fragrance. Its naturally compact growth makes it ideal for shady borders, woodland gardens and patio containers, especially near paths, entrances or seating areas where the scent can be appreciated. As a male variety, it will not produce berries but can provide pollen for female Skimmias nearby.
