Syringa vulgaris ‘Sensation’ is a standout lilac shrub grown for its unusual flower colouring and classic lilac scent. In late spring, it produces large, upright clusters of richly scented flowers, each one opening a deep purple shade with a clearly defined white margin, giving the plant a crisp, eye-catching finish unlike traditional single-colour lilacs. The blooms are carried above a framework of mid-green, heart-shaped leaves, creating a strong seasonal display that works equally well as a focal plant or within mixed borders. Best suited to sunny positions, this variety develops into a sturdy, long-lived shrub that rewards gardeners year after year with reliable flowering, fragrance, and distinctive colour contrast.
