Viburnum burkwoodii ‘Anne Russell’ is a compact shrub grown primarily for its rich spring fragrance and tidy, well-proportioned shape. In mid to late spring, clusters of deep pink buds open gradually to white flowers, releasing a strong, sweet scent that makes the plant noticeable before most shrubs have reached full leaf. The foliage provides a dense green framework through summer and often develops autumn colour before leaf fall. Naturally restrained in size and slow to become unruly, ‘Anne Russell’ fits easily into mixed borders and smaller gardens where scent, balance, and reliability are more important than scale or repeated flowering.
