This medium sized deciduous Japanese maple has a nice sculptural form, deeply cut foliage, arching shoots, and golden autumn colour. The reddish purple flowers are tiny from far but very attractive up close. They are followed by winged fruit. This Japanese maple makes a beautiful specimen in small gardens and can be grown in large containers or used for bonsai growth.
It needs a fertile, moist but well-drained soil in a partly shaded spot. Only prune when dormant (late fall to mid-winter).
