Callicarpa kwangtungensis is a deciduous beautyberry species grown for its refined habit and attractive display of violet-purple berries in autumn. Small, pale lilac flowers appear in summer and are followed by clusters of glossy fruit that line the stems as the foliage turns yellow and falls, giving the shrub strong late-season interest. More delicate in appearance than Callicarpa bodinieri, this species has a naturally graceful form that works well in mixed borders, woodland-style gardens, and as a subtle specimen plant. Its berries persist well into autumn, adding colour and structure at a time when many shrubs are past their peak.
