Chaenomeles speciosa ‘Toyo-nishiki’ is a deciduous flowering quince admired for its delicate, multi-toned spring blossom. In early spring, the bare branches carry an abundance of flowers in soft shades of pale pink, deeper rose, and white, often appearing together on the same plant to create a naturally variegated effect. The flowers are single to lightly semi-double and are followed by glossy green foliage that forms a dense, spreading shrub through the growing season. With its informal habit and subtle colour variation, ‘Toyo-nishiki’ is particularly well suited to Japanese-style gardens, mixed borders, and feature planting where gentle spring colour and character are preferred over bold intensity.
