Clematis ‘Aljonushka’ is a herbaceous, non-clinging clematis prized for its long flowering season and elegant, nodding bell-shaped blooms. From early summer into early autumn, it produces abundant mauve-pink to soft lavender-pink flowers that hang gracefully above mid-green foliage. Unlike climbing clematis, this integrifolia-type variety does not attach itself and instead forms a bushy, upright clump that can be lightly supported or allowed to weave naturally through neighbouring plants. Flowering on new growth each year, it delivers reliable, repeat colour and is ideal for mixed borders, cottage-style planting, and containers where a compact, free-flowering perennial clematis is required without the need for trellis or wires.

How to care for Clematis 'Aljonushka'

Clematis ?Alionushka?

Light:
Grows best in full sun to partial shade. A bright position encourages stronger flowering, while light shade is tolerated.

Soil:
Prefers fertile, well-drained soil that retains some moisture. Improving the soil with organic matter at planting helps establishment.

Water:
Water regularly while establishing. Once mature, it copes well with normal garden moisture levels but benefits from watering during dry spells.

Pruning:
Pruning group 3. Flowers are produced on new season growth, so cut back hard in late winter or early spring to encourage fresh shoots.

Hardiness:
Hardy in temperate climates and suitable for most gardens.

Feeding:
Apply a general-purpose fertiliser in spring to support healthy growth and flowering.

Notes

Deciduous clematis with a semi-scrambling, non-clinging habit, rather than a true climbing form.
Produces nodding, bell-shaped flowers in soft rose-pink tones from late spring through summer.
Best grown weaving through shrubs, allowed to trail, or given light support in borders or containers.
Low-maintenance and ideal for naturalistic planting schemes or smaller gardens.
