Clematis ‘Taiga’ (PBR) is a compact, deciduous climber celebrated for its highly unusual, multi-layered flowers and bold colour contrast. Throughout summer into early autumn, it produces intricate blooms composed of deep violet outer petals surrounding a dense centre of narrow, pointed inner segments tipped with creamy green to chartreuse, creating a striking, almost exotic effect. As the flowers mature, the colouring subtly shifts, adding further depth and movement to the display. Moderate in vigour and well suited to containers as well as borders, ‘Taiga’ performs beautifully on trellis, obelisks, and patio supports where its complex flower structure can be admired up close. Reliable, long-flowering, and visually distinctive, it is an excellent choice for adding contemporary impact to vertical planting schemes.

How to care for Clematis 'Taiga' (PBR)

Light:
Grows best in full sun but can tolerate some light shade. Flowers open most fully when the blooms receive plenty of sunlight.

Soil:
Prefers fertile, well-draining soil that retains moisture. Keep the base of the plant cool and shaded using mulch or low-growing groundcover.

Water:
Maintain consistent moisture while the plant is establishing. Once mature, it can handle typical garden conditions but benefits from regular watering for optimal growth.

Pruning:
Clematis ?Taiga? belongs to pruning group 3, so it blooms on new growth. Cut back hard in late winter or early spring before new shoots appear to encourage healthy flowering.

Hardiness:
Fully hardy in temperate climates and capable of withstanding normal winter frosts.

Feeding:
Use a balanced fertiliser in spring to encourage vigorous growth and a plentiful display of flowers.
