Clerodendrum trichotomum is a distinctive deciduous shrub or small tree grown for its fragrant late-summer flowers and vividly coloured autumn fruit. Towards the end of summer, airy clusters of creamy white, star-like blooms appear at the branch tips, carrying a noticeable sweet perfume. As flowering finishes, the display transforms into glossy turquoise-blue berries held within deep pink to red star-shaped calyces, creating a dramatic and unusual colour contrast. Large, softly textured green leaves provide a bold backdrop through the growing season before taking on yellow tones in autumn. Suited to a warm, sheltered position, this species brings scent, colour, and visual interest at a time of year when many shrubs are fading.
