Cornus alba BATON ROUGE© (PBR) is a compact deciduous dogwood selected for its rich stem colour and controlled, upright habit. During the growing season it carries fresh green foliage, which may take on light autumn tones before dropping to expose deep red stems that provide standout winter interest. Shorter and more refined than many traditional red-stemmed dogwoods, it fits easily into smaller gardens while still delivering strong seasonal impact. Fully hardy in UK conditions, it performs best in moisture-retentive, free-draining soil and grows well in sun or partial shade, responding well to hard pruning in early spring to maintain vivid stem colour and dense growth.
