Cornus alba ‘Sibirica’ is a robust deciduous dogwood valued for its intense winter stem colour and dependable seasonal performance. In spring and summer it produces a dense canopy of green leaves that frequently shift to red or wine-purple shades in autumn, depending on light and temperature, before dropping to expose a network of vivid scarlet stems that light up the winter garden. Modest clusters of creamy flowers may appear in late spring with occasional pale berries later on, though the plant is chiefly grown for stem impact. Fully hardy across the UK, it grows best in moisture-retentive, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade and responds well to hard spring pruning to promote strong, brightly coloured new growth.
