Cornus kousa ‘Satomi’ is a compact flowering dogwood admired for its rich pink summer bracts and elegant growth habit. From early to mid-summer, the tree produces layers of pointed rosy-pink bracts surrounding small central flower heads, creating a striking display against fresh green foliage. As the season progresses, ornamental red fruits may develop, followed by vibrant red to orange-red autumn colour. With its balanced, upright form and moderate growth rate, it is well suited to use as a feature tree in smaller gardens. Fully hardy in UK conditions, it performs best in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil in full sun or light shade.
