Cornus kousa ‘Schmetterling’ is an elegant deciduous flowering dogwood valued for its large, pure white bracts and graceful, spreading habit. In early to mid-summer, broad white bracts surround the small central flowers, creating a light, airy display that stands out clearly against the rich green foliage. As the season progresses, ornamental strawberry-like fruits may develop, followed by attractive red to orange-red autumn leaf colour. With its naturally layered branching and refined shape, it makes an excellent specimen tree for gardens and landscape planting. Fully hardy in UK conditions, it thrives in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil and performs best in full sun or light shade.
