Corylus avellana MEDUSA (PBR) is a compact, deciduous hazel selected for its dramatic, twisting branches that create year-round architectural interest. The contorted stems form an intricate sculptural framework, especially striking in winter when the leaves have fallen. Fresh green foliage emerges in spring, followed by decorative catkins that add early seasonal detail before the plant settles into a dense, rounded habit through summer. Slow growing and naturally compact compared with traditional corkscrew hazel forms, it is well suited to smaller gardens, containers, or feature planting. Fully hardy in UK conditions, it grows best in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade, where its unique structure can be fully appreciated.
