Cotinus coggygria ‘Old Fashioned’ (PBR) is a deciduous shrub valued for its evolving foliage colour and soft, cloud-like summer flowers. New growth appears tinted purple in spring before gradually changing to green as the plant matures through summer. During early to mid-summer, loose branching flower clusters form a light, smoky haze above the foliage, adding texture and movement. In autumn, the leaves transform into glowing shades of red, orange, and copper, providing a strong seasonal finish before leaf fall. Hardy and adaptable in UK conditions, it performs best in a sunny position with well-drained soil, where it develops a balanced shape and dependable seasonal interest.
