Ficus carica ‘Ice Crystal’ is a distinctive ornamental fig grown primarily for its unusual foliage. The large leaves are deeply divided into narrow lobes, giving them a delicate, almost fern-like appearance that creates a striking architectural effect in the garden. Through spring and summer the plant forms a bold clump of bright green foliage, adding a Mediterranean character to borders or courtyard planting. It may produce small figs in warm conditions, although it is most often grown for its decorative leaves rather than fruit. Hardy in many UK gardens when planted in a warm, sheltered position, it grows best in fertile soil with good drainage and plenty of sunlight.
