Frangula alnus ‘Ron Williams’ (PBR) is a distinctive deciduous shrub grown for its narrow upright habit and fine-textured foliage. The plant develops a tall, column-like shape with slender green leaves arranged closely along the stems, giving it a light, elegant appearance through the growing season. In autumn the foliage turns clear yellow before falling. Small greenish flowers may appear in late spring, sometimes followed by dark berries later in the year. Hardy and adaptable in UK gardens, it grows well in a wide range of soils, including heavier ground, and performs reliably in both sun and partial shade, making it useful where vertical structure is needed without taking up much space.
