Magnolia 'Daphne' is an award-winning, deciduous small tree or large upright shrub prized for its exceptional deep-yellow floral display. In mid-to-late spring, just as the fresh green foliage emerges, the plant produces a profusion of tulip-shaped, 10cm-wide blooms that remain erect on the branch tips. This Belgian-bred hybrid (a cross of 'Miss Honeybee' and 'Gold Crown') features a neat, columnar-to-rounded habit, reaching an ultimate height of approximately 4–6 metres and a spread of 2.5–3 metres over 20 years. A prestigious recipient of the RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM), 'Daphne' is a reliable, slow-growing specimen ideal for small-to-medium gardens, thriving in moist, fertile, neutral-to-acidic soil in sheltered, sunny positions.
