Silvery Blue is a Perovskia (blue Spirea) with silver leaves and a very strong plant construction. Silvery Blue is found by Peter Catt who has also developed 'Lacey Blue'. Silvery Blue can best be placed in full sun but can also be planted in the semi-shade. A well drained soil is necessary for each Perovskia. Blooms from summer to autumn with beautiful blue flowers that even spread a fine scent. Silvery Blue is suitable for the perennial border, rock garden, heather garden and a combined container.

How to care for Perovskia atriplicifolia SILVERY BLUE (PBR)

Light:
Full sun; best colour, form, and flowering develop in open, sunny positions.

Soil:
Very well-drained soil; performs best in light, free-draining ground and tolerates poor soils.

Water:
Water during establishment; drought tolerant once established and dislikes prolonged wet conditions.

Pruning:
Cut back hard in early spring to low woody framework once new growth begins.

Hardiness:
Hardy in UK conditions, provided soil drainage is good.

Feeding:
Feeding is not usually required; avoid rich soils which can reduce flowering and cause weak growth.
