Physocarpus capitatus 'Tilden Park' is a deciduous shrub with a broad, spreading growth habit and a natural, informal appearance. New foliage emerges with a bronze tint before settling to green as the season progresses, creating a softer effect than the coloured forms of ninebark. In late spring to early summer, rounded clusters of small white flowers are produced above the leaves, providing a short period of floral interest. The plant grows steadily into a substantial shrub and retains its green foliage until leaf fall, with little autumn colour change. This selection is best suited to larger gardens or naturalistic planting where structure and seasonal flowering are valued over compact size or dramatic foliage colour.
