Picea abies 'Maxwellii' is a dwarf evergreen conifer that forms a low, compact mound with dense branching. Growth is extremely slow, and the plant spreads gradually rather than increasing in height. As it matures, a shallow dip often develops at the centre, giving it a subtly sculpted appearance similar to a miniature bird's-nest form. The short, dark green needles are closely packed along the stems, creating a firm, textured surface throughout the year. Its stable shape requires no pruning, making this variety well suited to rock gardens, containers, and small planting spaces where long-term structure and minimal maintenance are important.
