Thuja occidentalis ‘Rheingold’ is a dwarf evergreen conifer grown primarily for its changing foliage colour and compact form. In spring and summer, the soft, fine-textured foliage appears warm golden yellow, brightening borders and containers without overwhelming nearby plants. As temperatures drop, the colour gradually deepens into rich bronze and copper tones, giving the plant strong winter presence. Slow growing and naturally well shaped, ‘Rheingold’ requires little maintenance and is well suited to small gardens or detailed planting schemes where long-term structure and seasonal colour shifts are more important than size or speed of growth.
